Eating mince pies from the moment they hit the shops in October right up til Christmas day. With custard and bananas even better.
Putting up the Christmas tree at the end of November, wearing my Christmas jumper, listening and singing along to Christmas songs
Spending time with family and friends and eating far too much
Bright lights of Oxford Street
The smell of mulled wine candles
Reading the cheesy Christmas cracker jokes
Watching Home Alone
Eating Brussels sprouts I’m indifferent to them but it must be the novelty of only eating them at this time of year
Most importantly recognising it as a period to give back to others and receiving graciously. With new year coming up reflecting on the past year, lessons learnt and looking forward to the excitement the next year will bring.
What does Christmas mean to you?
Merry Christmas all! Hope the holidays are merry and bright filled with laughter and good memories.
I’m always looking for inspiration for motivational songs for my gym/running playlist so thought I would share my current top 5:
Titanium – David Guetta, Sia
There’s something about this track that makes me feel invincible when I’m running, this makes me feel empowered and strong. ‘I’m bulletproof, nothing to lose’
2. All of Me (Tiesto’s Birthday Treatment Remix) – John Legend
This is just a great song that I could easily listen to on repeat but it’s got a strong beat that gets you into a running rhythm.
‘Cause all of me
Loves all of you
Love your curves and all your edges
All your perfect imperfections’
3. It’s My Life – Bon Jovi
This track name says it all – this reminds me that I work out for my own health and my own way of life and that I wouldn’t change myself for anyone else. As soon as the chorus kicks in so does the running pace.
‘I did it my way
I just wanna live while I’m alive
It’s my life’
4. Eye of the Tiger – Survivor
The classic rocky training song.
‘Don’t lose your grip on the dreams of the past
You must fight just to keep them alive’
5. Glitterball – Sigma, Ella Henderson
Looking at my current most listened to playlists Sigma actually features more than I realised. This is just a nice track for when i’m heading towards the cooling down period.
‘You’re like the sun to the evening rain
The bells are ringing, you’ve got me singing’
Feel free to let me know what is on your workout playlists i’m always looking for different tracks to update mine with.
Feeling complacent today could it be with the new year coming up or because of the runnin’ song by Beyonce and naughty boy I’ve been listening to on repeat. Isn’t it incredible how a song can resonate with you.
Looking back at the past year a lot has changed. The past catching up with you, giving up on your love, your love giving up on you, a friend trading you out for her latest conquest, a manager making you wish the ground would swallow you up. Sickness and health. These are all just minor things in the grand scheme of life. We come out the other side stronger than before and we stand proud. Proud of what we overcame to get to where we are, proud of the journey ahead and the struggles we overcome.
A manager brings you down – use it as a chance to work to prove them wrong. Someone breaks your heart – be confident in yourself they’ll soon learn what they gave up. Find a way of turning a challenge into an opportunity.
If there’s one thing that I have finally understood in recent years no one has the power or right to judge you. You are who you are and never should have to change yourself for anyone or anything else.
Last summer I finally discovered Itsu the chain of Asian inspired outlets predominantly based in London.
Delicious, filling and doesn’t leave you filling guilty – if anything it leaves you wanting more. I particularly enjoy their on a bed salads ranging from salmon and rice, chicken teriyaki to duck and rice.
What you are putting into your body to fuel your days should never be compromised however busy life gets.
Starting the day with a cup of hot water with a few slices of lemon has helped me to cleanse my system right from the get go. Ensuring I stay hydrated throughout the day I alternate water and decaf green tea whilst trying to stick to no more than two cups of tea a day.
Dinner is a variation of sweet potatoes, varieties of meat and fish and rice typically.
Make the time to value your body and health and it will thank you for it in days and years to come.
